OTHER LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FOR ADULTS:
For those exploring or wanting to learn the basics of the Christian Faith:

The First Steps Course:  Each year we offer a course that explores the basics of the Christian faith in three weekly sessions.  To learn more about the First Steps course contact
Wendy Werkman at wendy@discoverbethel.com; 780-476-3762.

The Alpha Course:  Alpha is a program that offers you an opportunity to explore, with others, the Bible’s answers to life’s big questions. The 11 weekly sessions take place in the intimacy of a small group setting, usually meeting in someone’s home.  Each evening includes friendly conversation over a meal, followed by a video and a discussion, and takes about 2 ½ hours. There is an optional “weekend away” (Friday evening and Saturday) that features an in-depth study of the Holy Spirit.  (This topic gets special attention because Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit so that people could know his presence in their daily lives and experience power to live in a new way.)

LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUTH:
Outlet: During the school year (September-June) Bethel youth (Grades 7-12) meet every other Friday night for fun events and activities such as laser tag, all-nighters, theme nights, and scavenger hunts. At Outlet aims to give teens an opportunity to build Christ-like community as they connect with friends and youth leaders.

Catalyst: Alternating with Outlet every other Friday night during the school year, Catalyst is where Bethel Youth focuses on putting faith into action through discipleship and a strong emphasis on engaging the Bible. Through worship, teaching, games, and discussions, we build life-shaping relationships with God and each other.

Retreats: In mid-November, the youth are given the opportunity to go on a retreat to Camp Nakamun. This retreat is focused on learning about the Holy Spirit and growing in our relationship with God. In the spring, we host a second retreat where we travel around Alberta to different locations. We call this our “Mystery Retreat” and it is focused on serving others.

Missions: Since 2011, Bethel Youth has been partnered with Pastor Arturo Aguirre in Hermosillo, Mexico. During Spring Break, students in Grades 9-12 travel to Mexico to serve alongside Pastor Arturo and his church, Centro Biblico Familiar El Sembrador, to foster community, lead services, pray for people, and work on building projects. Youth Mission teams are formed in early October of each year.

For more information about any of our youth programs, please contact our Director of Youth Ministries, Doug Barr at doug@discoverbethel.com; 780-476-3762.
