​WHAT DID REVEAL REVEAL?
Recently we urged everyone in the church to take an online survey called Reveal.  It was designed to measure:

• the degree to which we at Bethel are employing spiritual practices to grow in our faith
• the degree to which we are putting our faith into action, and
• how well the church is helping us integrate our faith into our lives

So, what did Reveal, reveal?
 
We went over the results of the survey in great detail at a recent Leadership Retreat.  Here are some highlights:

• Our church promotes a strong serving culture that is widely recognized by the local community.
• Members are above average in two spiritual practices:  daily reflection on Scripture and tithing.
• A very high number of Bethelites are involved in a small group.
• Bethel members are eager to become equipped for spiritual growth and ministry.

 
On the negative side:

• While an above average number of Bethel members read their Bible’s daily, the nationwide Christian average is pathetically low, so it is not hard to be “above average”.  Fewer than 50% of Bethelites actually read the Bible each day. 
• Some of our small groups are thriving, but clearly we need to increase the effectiveness of many of our small groups to help people grow spiritually.
• It is urgent that we develop a strong “discipling” culture—one that moves people along in their faith from new believer to fully devoted follower of Christ.  This will involve many one-on-one relationships. Programs alone cannot achieve this. 

 
Receiving these Reveal survey results is like getting a checkup with the doctor.  It is a prescription for improvement.  Since the Christian life is all about growing, the results are welcome.
