WillowWood Preschool - Substitute Teacher

WillowWood Christian Preschool is hiring: We are looking for additional people to join our staff as substitute teachers and assistants. This includes immediate coverage for a short medical leave. Our classes run Monday - Friday from 9:00 - 11:30 AM. If you have a passion for play-based preschool education from a Christian perspective, hold level 1, 2, or 3 Early Childhood Educator certificate, or have related experience, consider joining our team. Objective:

To provide a loving, accepting, safe, and fun learning environment that will enable children to grow socially, physically, intellectually, and spiritually. To share the love of Jesus in a Christian atmosphere where each child knows he or she is a person of worth and a child of God.

Professional Qualifications:

• Level 1, 2, or 3 Early Childhood Educator certificate preferred, or related experience. Training beyond secondary education, specifically in early childhood or elementary education, or related field preferred.

• Enthusiasm for play-based early learning and childcare

• Able to provide a clear criminal record check, including a vulnerable sector search.

Spiritual Qualifications:

• Is an active member of a Christian church.

• Has a heart for God that is displayed in everyday life.

• Has a passion for the spiritual life of children. 

  
  

Accountability:

• Works with other preschool staff and reports to the Preschool Director.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the preschool staff in setting up and cleaning up of the classroom each day.

• Assist with the preparation and organization of student materials and snacks.

• Be actively engaged with students individually, and in large and small groups throughout the day to facilitate their learning and exploration.

• Maintain a positive, safe learning environment, following the WillowWood Child Guidance Policy.

• Confer as needed with the other preschool staff regarding the needs of the students.

• Be actively involved with the supervision of the children throughout the day.

• Observe and relay to other staff the children’s learning in their play.

• If providing extended coverage for consecutive classes, assist other staff in the planning, preparing, and implementing activities and experiences that are connected to and support the children’s observed ideas, interests, and exploration.

• Other duties relevant to the preschool as assigned.
