  • This Week At Bethel | Bethel Community Church

This Week At Bethel September 24, 2023 This Sunday Church Family News Announcements Community News Calendar Bulletin Archive This Sunday THIS SUNDAY: We will be worshipping together through one service in person and over live stream at 10:00 a.m. To join us online, go to Bethel’s home page and click on the button that says: “Worship Online with Us.” We continue our sermon series, The Good News, this Sunday by reflecting on the devotion among the earliest followers of Jesus. Through relational practices and rhythms—meditating on the apostles' teaching, fellowship, the breaking of bread and prayer—the message of Good News transformed and deepened their community. This also is how we must live out the gospel and share it with others. How can this be an example of how we reach out to and live with one another? Pastor Harold Roscher, Director of the Native Healing Centre, will be guest preaching for us this Sunday in a message focusing on Acts 2:42-47, "Good News through Fellowship." Following the message, we will celebrate the Lord’s Supper together. For those attending in-person, we will invite you to come forward to receive the elements at the front, sharing them together as a group. If you are not able to come forward, please raise your hand and the elements will be brought to you. Gluten-free bread is available for those who desire this option. For everyone online, please have communion elements ready at home (bread, juice/wine) to join with us in sharing the meal. You can partake of the elements at home while they are being served in the sanctuary. We look forward to celebrating Christ’s meal of grace with you Sunday. Please prepare your hearts for this time of remembrance and celebration in light of our forgiveness through the cross. Our Sunday Offerings: BETHEL MINISTRIES & MISSION: This offering supports the ministries and programs of Bethel. THE EDMONTON NATIVE HEALING CENTRE : empowers individuals to grow stronger and creates vibrant community relationships while honoring our culture through Spiritual development centered in the heart of the Creator. Please visit discoverbethel.com/give to see the ways that you can donate and support our different collections. If you have any questions about our giving options, please contact Sara at accounting@discoverbethel.com Church Family News: We rejoice that on Sunday, October 1st, JUSTIN PATTERSON will be baptized and profess his faith in Jesus Christ. We hope that you join us in praying for Justin as he takes this momentous step in his faith journey. CURTIS COENEN will be going for facial surgery to fix a broken cheekbone in the next few weeks. Please pray for his quick healing. Please continue to pray for CALVIN BRUINSMA, MARCEL CROCKER, MIKE JACKSON, JENNY PENFOLD, DON & ELEANOR PROKUDA, CELINE SIGVALDASON, JILL SNEEP, and LINDA VROON. Announcements: We are deeply sorry to share that Alexander, a young Karen member of Maranatha Church passed away suddenly on Sep 8th. Alexander is a brother to our recently sponsored Refugee family, Abraham, Hsa Wah and Mat, and son to Jame. There will be a funeral service on Monday September 25th at 2pm at Maranatha Church, followed by interment at Little Mountain Cemetery (16025 54 St. NW); after which there will be a reception at Maranatha Church. A family friend has set up a GoFundMe page for his family to help with Funeral Expenses; click here if you would like to contribute. Bethel's Refugee Committee will be donating directly to the family too. Thank you. WORSHIP ARTS: Do you have a flair for decorating?
